Violinist Machiko Ozawa, a former concertmaster of Orquesta Sinfonica Sinaloa de las Artes, gave her debut recital at the Carnegie Weill Recital Hall as a winner of the Artists International Competition. Subsequently she has performed as a soloist with the C.W. Post Chamber Orchestra, Henry Mancini Festival Orchestra, North Shore Symphony Orchestra, and Orquesta Sinfónica Sinaloa de las Artes, among others. She has been awarded the ” Amigos de la Musica” as the best orchestra in Mexico. She has also performed as a tango soloist with the Presidential Symphony Orchestra in Turkey, the Pan American Symphony Orchestra as well as American Philharmonic Orchestra.
As a performing artist, Ms. Ozawa has extended her musicianship to other styles of music, including jazz, Argentine tango, improvisation, and tap dance, among others. In addition, she has created her own style of performance called tapdanceviolin, which has been incorporated in some of her original compositions.
Ms. Ozawa was selected as one of the main cast members in the award winning musical Amor Latino at Thalia Theatre, in which she played as a tapdancer and violinist.
Ms. Ozawa’s playing could be heard on the albums such as, Placido Domingo “Songs”(SONY CLASSICAL), Erwin Schrott “Rojotango”(SONY CLASSICAL), Importango”Tango For Import”(Panoramic Recordings), Urban Tango Trio”Urban Tango Trio”(PLATONIC), among others.
Ms. Ozawa received her formal training from The Juilliard School, Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and Tokyo National University of the Arts (Tokyo Gei Dai). She has studied with Yfrah Neaman, Lewis Kaplan, Masao Kawasaki, Takashi Shimizu, Chikashi Tanaka, and Shigeru Toyama. She has given numerous solo recitals in U.S. and Japan at major venues such as Carnegie Hall, Merkin Concert Hall, Kennedy Center Performing Arts, Tokyo Bunka Kaikan, and Nikkei Hall as well as Blue Note New York, Blues Alley among others. She has performed in chamber music groups and orchestras at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Barbican Center, Bellas Artes, Symphony Space, GW Lisner Auditorium, and Mondavi Center.
Ms. Ozawa became Yamaha performing artist since April 2016 and plays their electric violin, YEV104.
Sebastian Noya (1985) was born in Buenos Aires and lived in Canada until the age of seven.
Back in Argentina, he studied piano, electric bass and double bass accomplishing a National Music Teacher degree at the Escuela de Música Juan Pedro Esnaola, and a Professional Musician degree from the Escuela de Música Contemporánea (Berklee International
Network). He is a former member of the Orquesta Escuela de Tango Emilio Balcarce in 2010-2011 (Best Instrumental Tango Orchestra Album at Premios Carlos Gardel 2014), and has traveled performed tango across Argentina, South America, the United States and Europe.
Over the last years he has played in the main Tango shows of Buenos Aires: Esquina Carlos Gardel, Tango Porteño, Esquina Homero Manzi, Café de los Angelitos y El Viejo Almacén. He is currently a member of Amores Tangos and has played, recorded and/or performed with artists such as Leopoldo Federico, Pepe Colángelo, Victor Lavallén, Julio Pane, Lidia Borda, Diego Schissi Quinteto, Daniel Melingo, Tango Buenos Aires Ramiro Boero Trio, Amores Tangos, Sexteto Vale Tango, Aca Seca Trio, Orquesta Típica Ariel
Ardit, Orquesta Típica Pichuco, Ramiro Gallo Quinteto, Orquesta Arquetípica, Orquesta del Tango de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, Exequiel Mantega Trio, Orquesta Típica Julio Pane, Julian Hermida Quinteto, amongst many others.
He currently lives in Switzerland and participates in several musical projects including El Muro (Norway), Silencio and Marcela Arroyo.
Born in La Plata (Argentina) in 1988, Pablo Murgier studied the piano with Fernando Finocchi, María José Zabala, Hernán Possetti, Pablo Estigarribia and Hilda Herrera.. He qualified at the jazz school EMU in La Plata, becoming a professional musician, also qualifying in Composition via electro-acoustic media at the National University of Quilmes. He is presently mastering in the Interpretation of 20th century Latino-American Music at the National University of Cuyo.
As well as “Los Milonguitas” and the “Sexteto Murgier” (for which he is both composer and musical director), he has participated in various other musical projects, which have led in particular to actual recordings, as with the “Sergio Poli Ensamble Eléctrico” (album “Canícula Metrópolis”, a live DVD at the “Teatro Argentino”, and “Luna de Hielo”), “Cuarteto Biraben” (album “El lago”), “Cinemática” (album “Entre los edificios”).
He has given numerous concerts as soloist of both academic and popular music, has collaborated with various orchestras, artists and ensembles, such as the “Orquesta de cuerdas MusArt” (Chile), “Cacho Castaña”, “Esquina Carlos Gardel”, “Tango Diagonales”, “Dúo Luna-Tobaldi”, Adriana Varela and the musicians of “Los auténticos decadentes”; has performed in Uruguay, Chile and several European countries.
Pablo Murgier is a member of the CIMAP (i.e. Creators and Performers of Argentinian Music on the Piano) directed by Maestra Hilda Herrera. He has been awarded a grant for Study and Research, gives lectures in higher education Art Schools across the province of Buenos Aires and also within the framework of the program “Orquesta Escuelas para el bicentenario”.
Simone Tolomeo is an italian bandoneonist born in1985, initially studying the piano and composition at the National Conservatory of Palermo. After specializing at first in mediterranean music, blues and jazz, he then turned to the tango, studying the bandoneon with Frederico Pereiro and Rodolfo Mederos and arrangements with Ramiro Gallo and Gabriel Senanes.
As a bandoneonist he is regularly interviewed at the shows of the most renowned tanguerias of the porteña capital (“Café Tortoni”, “Esquina Carlos Gardel” and “Metro-Tango”) and has taken part in several theater productions, such as “Manzi, una vida en Orsai”. He also accompanied the italian tenor Fabio Armiliato in his show “Recital CanTango” under the artistic direction of the pianist Fabrizio Mocata.
Both on the bandoneon and in the arrangements, he has integrated various ensembles such as “El Mondongo de Palermo” and “Tango Diagonales”.
Also, he has become a member of different tango-playing orquestas típicas (“Fabián Bertero Big Band Tango”, “Orquesta Arquetípica de Ramiro Gallo”, “Ariel Ardit O.T.”, “La Sacada O.T.”) and has taken part in several disc recordings.
Presently, he is also playing with “Sexteto Murgier” (argentinian music), the milonguero tango trio “Los Milonguitas” and as soloist, as well as conducting seminaries on the tango and musicality for dancers.
